The two men at the centre of the search for musician Sixto Rodriguez have written the story of their journey. Stephen “Sugar” Segerman and Craig Bartholomew-Strydom authored the book “Sugar Man – the life, death and resurrection of Sixto Rodriguez”, after the success of the documentary film that was made about their quest. The pair share the tale of what they call an ‘irresistible story” about Rodriguez, who was rumoured to have killed himself on stage. An old high school friend and music collector came by the other day and claimed “you might like this documentary!” He was right, it got straight under my skin, went after the records and managed to get tickets for his concert in Amsterdam on the 21st of Januari. I especially like the South African connection, a planned motorbike holiday destination and a great language too ( ik bedoel het Afrikaans natuurlijk). More links as my old US Ford was put together in Dearborn, according to the tag under the hood. Ik ben heel nieuwsgierig naar het boek! Might drop by on my motorbike in cape Town somewhere in 2016 and in the meantime soak up and enjoy Rodrigues music….Thank You!

A superb work by both Craig Bartholomew-Strydom and Stephen “Sugar” Segerman. Hearty congratulations to both authors! I ordered my copy from Amazon because in the U.S., Random House in the U.S. does not carry it; it arrived from the U.K. with a Bantam Press/Transworld Publishers imprint, a publishing division of Random House based in Britain. Essential reading!
