  1. Long may your children & grandchildren carry on without you Rodriguez. You were a spirit of love and life that began touching my soul as the movie Searching for Sugarman one lazy Sunday in 2014 serendipitously began playing on Cable TV. My youngest child had just arrived to Cape Town S.A. for study abroad semester, so the location caught my eye.. Initially i was captivated by how gorgeous the sweeping mountain & churning South Atlantic scenes were but almost as quickly I was hooked on the story of your music & subsequent obscurity as told by he filmmaker and the S.A. music community that was searching for information about you and what happened to you. Loved the movie. Followed your music from that moment on. Such a blessing of a human you were. Thanks for sharing your love & light with this world. RIP Rodriguez.
    “I wonder I do” too.

  2. Absolutely inspirational music listening to I wonder tright now plus the albums crying, a great loss to the world .thank you for your music….

    1. The highlight of my music journey was playing my Rodriguez covers to him at then Darbies, a pub in the Elangeni Hotel, in Durban 1997 or 1998. What an honor it was to do this for my inspiration only having discovering his music in my late teens when I started playing guitar. I started playing guitar so I could sing his song. I met his daughter, maybe Sandra. She and I chatted after I gave him a 40-45 minute set only playing his music. I remember him saying that I played his song in a different key. I replied, “You’ve just been playing it wrong all this time.” We had a shooter together, took some photos, gave him a hug and left him with his enterage of fans. Funny thing, 2 years later he was doing a show at Greyville Race Course. After the show I waited to see him so he could sign the photos I took of us together 2 years previously at the Elangeni Hotel. My heartfelt sympathies to his daughters. If anybody wants the pics, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks for your time. Blessings. 🙏🏼❤️☮️
