Thank you from Detroit

I live about 5 minutes from the Detroit border and a 20 minute drive to downtown. I would never have been exposed to the music of Sixto Rodriguez if I hadn’t been for you and the others who loved his music so passionately. I was introduced to him, even though I lived very close in proximity, only via the documentary.

His music has been readily available and I own his cds. He was honored at a theatre in Detroit, called the Majestic on Saturday and I saw his brother and Sandra. I went alone and got to listen to stories and just be there quietly. I will include photos for you. The reason for this email is THANK YOU. Rodriguez’s music stirs the soil, lightens the heart, gives hope, is relatable and burns the heart. I’ve been in a particular mood and mourning since he passed, as many are, but I know he wasn’t well at all. Anyway, I wouldn’t have even heard a song of his if it wasn’t for the divine inspiration that you and others had-I am grateful ❤

Most sincerely,

Shawn Spears-Vilk
